Michael Yi is the editor-in-chief at Monarch Student Newspaper and a rising senior at Portola High School in Irvine, California. He is incredibly passionate about journalism and writing as he participated in last year’s Stanford Daily Winter Journalism Workshop and writes music reviews on rateyourmusic. Aside from writing, you’ll likely find him listening to music, practicing the violin/guitar, or eating an acai bowl. As humans, mistakes are inevitable.
However, to what extent is this common notion tolerable in the field of medicine? According to a study conducted by the Pew Research Center, mistakes diagnosing patients are the most common and dangerous errors made by doctors in the U.S. and result in permanent injury or death for as many as 160,000 patients annually.
Computer Science to Me
One particular talent or skill that I am proud of is my ability to solve problems. The sense of gratification after relieving my brain of stress has always been incredibly rewarding to me, which is why I was especially intrigued when I combined my ability to problem solve with another talent of mine: computer science.
